1800's Train and Mammoth Site

Two more stops on our Black Hills vacation were the 1800's Train and the Mammoth Dig Site.

We were scheduled to ride the train for the fireworks express route to see the fireworks over Mount Rushmore. It rained all morning and finally let up in time to get on the train but unfortunately the fog rolled back in the evening and we were not able to see the fireworks(but neither did anyone else). At least we had a fun train ride through the Black Hills.

We also ventured to Hot Springs to check out the Mammoth Dig Site. If you are at all interested in looking at dinosaur bone this is the place to check out. It is a active dig site and they are still finding Mammoth bones all the time. It was educational and the kids really enjoyed learning about the Mighty Mammoth.

We are off!! The train whistle was very loud.

Enjoying our refreshments.
